Intern - Category Management & Buying (Hybrid Work Setup)
We are hiring a Buyer Intern for RPL to support the team and will assist with buying, product development, sample coordination, and Raya collection preparation.
The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in fashion, a good sense of creativity, and basic buying knowledge. They must be eager to learn, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and passionate about understanding the fashion and Raya market.
Job Scope:
- Buying & Product Development Support
- Assist the RPL Buyer in managing daily buying tasks for Raya and seasonal collections.
- Support in product selection, range planning, pricing checks, and product assortment preparation.
- Help gather market research, competitor analysis, trend references, and customer insights.
- Assist in preparing buying decks, line sheets, product lists, and collection overviews.
- Raya Collection Coordination
- Support the team in developing and organising Raya-related products, including modest wear, occasion wear, and festive collections.
- Assist in tracking product development timelines to ensure samples and final products are delivered on time.
- Help coordinate design details, colour references, prints, embellishments, and fabric information with the Designer and Buyer.
- Support the team in ensuring the collection is commercially relevant and aligned with the brand direction.
- Sample Management
- Assist with sample tracking, fitting preparation, and sample organisation.
- Support fitting sessions by taking notes, photos, and recording comments from Buyer, Designer, and Product Developer.
- Help follow up on sample amendments, approval status, and pending actions.
- Maintain organised records of samples, product codes, colourways, and development status.
- Administrative & Operational Support
- Assist in updating product information, pricing, costing sheets, and buying documents.
- Support with purchase order preparation and product data entry where required.
- Help coordinate with internal teams such as Design, Product Development, Merchandising, Marketplace, Content, and Operations.
- Support ad hoc tasks related to buying, collection planning, and product launches.
- Creative & Market Research
- Research current fashion trends, Raya trends, competitor products, bestselling styles, colour directions, fabric trends, and customer preferences.
- Assist in creating mood boards, trend boards, and product inspiration references.
- Provide creative input on styling, product ideas, colour combinations, and market opportunities.
- Stay updated on modest fashion, festivewear, and commercial fashion trends.
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed studies in Fashion Merchandising, Fashion Design, Retail, Business, Marketing, Textile, or related fields.
- Has a strong interest in fashion buying, product development, Raya collections, modestwear, and retail.
- Possesses a good sense of creativity, styling, colour, trends, and product details.
- Basic understanding of fashion buying, product categories, fabrics, garment construction, or retail merchandising is an advantage.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks at the same time.
- Eager to learn, proactive, responsible, and willing to take initiative.
- Detail-oriented and organised, especially when handling samples, product information, and timelines.
- Good communication skills and able to work closely with Buyers, Designers, Product Developers, and cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Google Sheets, or similar tools.
- Able to adapt quickly, follow instructions well, and support urgent tasks when required.
- Passionate about learning the full fashion buying process from concept, design, sampling, costing, buying, until product launch.
